Join us for the TRIO Student Leadership Conference: People and Purpose, a one-day event designed to inspire and empower TRIO Talent Search students from Southwestern Oregon Community College programs in Coos and Curry counties.

Date: Thursday, September 25, 2025
Location: Southwestern Oregon Community College – Coos Bay Campus
Time: 9:30 AM check-in | 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM conference

This engaging conference will feature:

  • Opening Keynote: Zach Jones, Manager of Student Supports at the Ford Family Foundation, Coos County native, and proud TRIO Talent Search alumnus.

  • Breakout Sessions:

    • Exploring leadership styles

    • Managing mental health for success in school and beyond

    • Ford Family Scholarship opportunities and how to prepare in high school

    • Guided campus tours of the Coos Bay SWOCC campus with Admissions

  • Lunch Provided: Enjoy a meal in the SWOCC cafeteria with your peers.

  • Prizes & Swag: Students will have the chance to win headphones, gift cards, Lego sets, and Stanley water bottles. Every participant will receive a complimentary TRIO beanie and t-shirt.

This conference is a unique opportunity for TRIO students to connect with peers, explore leadership, prepare for college, and celebrate the power of People and Purpose.

The Oregon TRIO Association (OTA) is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering students from underserved backgrounds to pursue and succeed in higher education. OTA supports more than 11,000 students annually through partnerships with TRIO programs across Oregon, including those at Southwestern Oregon Community College. Our mission is to level the playing field for students who are low-income, first-generation, from rural communities, BIPOC populations, and students with disabilities. By providing advocacy, professional development, and statewide initiatives, OTA helps strengthen TRIO programs and expand opportunities for Oregon students to achieve their educational and career goals.
